Permission-based marketing
gogo uses a recommended opt-in/permission-based system, with the option of adding another aspect to the permission process for the user.
A poster in a zone is used to tell users about the service offered, asking them to turn Bluetooth on, accept the message received and sign up for the service.
gogo allows a set distance surrounding a Zone to be defined as a registration area for users. This range can be set to what is called a 'touch point' - only allowing users wanting to sign up to receive a message.
Whenever someone registers, they are instantly entered into the central user database with their interests specified according to the registration zone settings.
The user can also log in via a webpage to change their profile (including deleting all interest groups signed up for). Once here there is also an opt-out option.
